The Krups FMF5-14 Programmable Drip Coffee Maker by default uses a stainless steel filter. That being said, Krups does not suggest ever using paper filters in this model. Also this model maintains a higher water temperature than many coffee makers on the market therefore using a paper filter will work significantly less than the stainless steel filter due to the higher pressure and temperature. The only filters suggested for use in this model are Krups Stainless Steel Reusable Filters.
